Gregory J. Murphy reports:

I get the following make error for the makefile in the libfcgi
    subdirectory in the installation:

make: Fatal error: Don't know how to make target `strtol.o'

Is the file 'strtol.c' missing? Its companion library file, strerror.c,
    is present in the directory.

strerror.c is present only for the benefit of SunOS, which lacks
the strerror function. strtol is an ANSI C function and should
be provided by whatever ANSI C compiler/libc.a you are using.
You sould verify this by writing/compiling/linking a one-line program
that calls strtol.

Perhaps configure was unable to locate a strtol function in your
libc, and this is its way of telling you? A normal Makefile for
libfcgi doesn't mention strtol.
