well, I am getting closer to the source of my problem. By looking at the
/logs/error_log, I am seeing this message every time I make a request to
the fcgi program:

[Sun Jun 22 18:43:31 1997] read script input or send script output timed
out for beaufort.tamu.edu
[Sun Jun 22 18:43:31 1997] access to/apps1/webman/apache_1.2b11/fcgi-bin/ECP/
in-class-response/quiz.fcg failed for beaufort.tamu.edu, reason:
mod_fastcgi:Could not connect to application, OS error 'Interrupted system call'

I saw a couple of comments on the mailing list, i.e.

> Generally, when you get an uninterrupted system call, it means that
> the program received a signal while blocking on some resource.

Has anyone successfully dealt with this particular problem?, if so please,
please let me know!

I am running Apache 1.2_b11, ultra sparc 2, Perl with sfio and the FCGI
0.28 module.
