building perl5.004 with fastcgi without gcc

Subject: building perl5.004 with fastcgi without gcc

Hello,

The directions for building perl with fastcgi assume that it can be 
built with gcc.  However, nothing is said about building without gcc. 
How can I build it without using gcc?
